I'm finding words challenging right now. How do you tell someone who is so incredibly important to you, someone who has shaped you into who you are, someone who unconditionally loves you... how do say enough to fully express your love and appreciation for her? I truly don't know, but I'm going to try.
I've spoken many times about my mom. She is one special lady, and today is her special day. The day we celebrate her life.
My mom is more than just a mom (like that wasn't enough). She's an unbelievably talented artist, a golfer, a tennis player, a wonderful friend, a snappy dresser, a home decorating whiz, a giver, a beauty, a laugher at her own jokes, a great cook and baker (when she wants to!), one in whom Christ dwells, a clean freak supremo, and so much much more.
As a mom, she is just as multifaceted. While I may not have always understood her approach to situations at the given time, my mom raised my sister and I to be strong, independent, caring, and intelligent women. She supports us, but also wants us to be able to support ourselves. She gives advice, but wants us to think for ourselves. She is the mother I want to be. The perfect blend of nurturing and giving of the space we need to learn.
I love being with my mom. Doing whatever. We are very, very similar which makes time spent together effortless. It also means we can butt heads, but I never worry about that. No matter what happens I know my mom loves me, and I'm fairly certain she knows I will always love her.
Mommy, I hope you have the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER, because you deserve it.
My mom and I have this little on going competition to see who can end the conversation with "I love you more!"
So... I love you and I love you more!
